Young musicians from Switzerland and Taiwan will put on a series of concerts in Taiwan beginning Tuesday, bringing classical European music to cities and counties around the country. The Zurich Youth Symphony Orchestra and 13 young Taiwanese musicians, selected to join in the concerts, will perform in Taichung, Tainan, Taipei, Yilan and Taoyuan from October 8 to 13. The Swiss orchestra will be performing in Taiwan for the first time, according to New Art, one of the organizers of the concerts. Established in 1987, the Swiss orchestra consists of around 70 members aged between 14 and 24. Since 1997, it has held concert tours in various countries, including the United States, France, Germany, South Korea and Japan. The orchestra members said they were excited about the upcoming concerts, sightseeing trips and food in Taiwan, as well as performing with local musicians.
