The Free Trade Agreement between Switzerland and China must be submitted to the Swiss Parliament before coming into force. Considering the vote, the Swiss Farmers’ Union (SFU) and its members organizations have carefully screened the agreement. The main requirements of the union were taken into consideration: concessions in the WTO quotas, protection of the sensitive products and consideration of the Swiss legislation. The Swiss agriculture does not fear any negative repercussions and SFU therefore gives the green light to the Parliament to approve the agreement. However, the Federal Council should keep an eye on certain points including the strict control of imports and repression of abuses, timely delivery of a strategy on quality, traceability and a credible Swissness.
