Dear Members and Friends of SwissCham,
The Swiss-Chinese Chamber of Commerce cordially invites you to participate in the Sichuan earthquake memorial concert on May 11, 2018 in Longxing Township, Chongzhou, Chengdu. This concert is kindly organized and supported by the Consulate General of Switzerland in Chengdu and will be performed by Sichuan Youth Orchestra & Sichuan Children’s Chorus.
2018 is the 10 years memorial of 2008 Wenchuan Earthquake and 8 years of successful operation of the kindergarten. The memorial is embedded into a one-week trip to Chongqing and Chengdu, visiting business parks, Chinese high tech companies, and meeting local government officials. An ideal opportunity to get to know the West of China, establish contacts with Chinese companies as well as government officials, while benefitting from the goodwill created by the Swiss Community Project.
On May 12, 2008, a terrible tremor shook the Sichuan province and caused tremendous destruction and loss of lives. Many young children and students died or were trapped as the earthquake took place during school hours. To alleviate the devastating consequences of that massive tragedy, the Swiss Community in China decided to act, coordinate their efforts and help to build a kindergarten.
